This weekend we went to Youth Conference at Camp Lomia
in Pine, Az. It was SOOOO much fun and yet SOOO spiritual!
The games, talks, food, EVERYTHING was AMAZING!

This was part of an AWESOME GAME the kids played. I was
in charge of the YELLOW group! This game all the kids took off
their shoes and put them on a huge tarp, then they all got ahold ot
the tarp and bounced the shoes high in the sky. When the shoes
landed they all had to scramble to find BOTH shoes, put them on
and run to the 1st Relay site. The 1st one was where the kids had
to tell where a certain scripture quote was found. If they guessed
wrong they had to wait a minute, then quess again. If they guessed
right they shot a paint ball gun to hit a target (had 10 shots). The 2nd
Relay was where they threw a dart at pink and white balloons. If they
hit a pink balloon they had to eat something ALIVE (crickets, or gold fish),
if they hit a white balloon they had to eat something DEAD ( pickled pigs
feet, or sardines) GROSS! The 3rd Relay was where they had to drink
a whole soda as fast as they could and then put their head down on a
baseball bat and spin around it 10 times and then make a basket with
a basket ball - FUNNY! The 4th Relay was where they had to find a
clear button in a childs play pool full of sand. The 5th Relay was where
the group had to do a huge word search as a group. Then they had to
race to the finish line, the group who got there first WON!! It was really
fun. They also played WHACK THE CRACKER and lots of fun things.
Here we are enjoying the AMAZING FOOD!
LaMar and Robert Arnett are the ones who grilled all the
steaks. Cory buys a huge BEEF TENDERLOIN at Costco
and then slices it into steaks. He then sprinkles Course Garlic
with Parsley ( a mixture you buy at Costco). SOO Good!!

Check out this meal! Beef Tenderloin Steaks, Shrimp (boiled
for a short time in a wonderful recipe), a delicious salad, baked
potatoes (Cory butters the outside skins and sprinkles them
with seasonings, then covers with foil), then this yummy loaves
of seasoned breads, sliced and heated). This was not normal Steak
Dinner, the tricks and recipies he had made it SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!

Here we are making the WONDERFUL Breakfast Crepes
at Youth Conference!

This cute little Mattie Gerkins was an AMAZING help to
her father the Chef! She and her little sister never tired and
worked so hard. Cory Gerkins was so good with them and SO
possitive and patient. I am not kidding, these little girls worked
harder than most adults and never tired! They LOVED working
with their Dad and he made them feel SO NEEDED and IMPORTANT,
it was so cute!

Here Cory showed everyone the proper way to make
yummy Crepes! He had several different kinds of homemade
delicious toppings, sooooo good!

Cory taugh us the proper way to peel and
split a banana! We helped chop up this bowl.

Our Chefs at Youth Conference, Cory Gerkins,
Mattie, and Ally Jo.

A Seminary Teacher (Bro. Goodman) came to our Ward
Youth Conference to speak. He gave a wonderful message!
He was one of my daughter (Sherry's) Seminary teachers,
and he was excited to hear about her.

This is the Creekside Chapel in the pines. One of the classes
met here. The Theme of the Youth Conference was "Got
Health". There were three classes - Spirital Health, Mental
Health and Physical Health. They were AWESOME! The
games and activities were so fun also.

The creek was running pretty good and was so pretty.

In September 2009 LaMar lost his job with ATC Associates.
He did work as an Environmental Remediation Tech.(They
clean gas leaks in the ground, etc.) A few weeks later he was
Hired by BEM Environmental for a Temporary Job doing
Remediation also. The job was only supposed to last to the
first of January 2010. They really liked LaMar, but the job was
finished. But because they really liked him they found work for him doing
a different kind of Environmental Work. He has been going through
the trash at Airforce Bases around the United States, doing a Government
study on what kind of recycling the Air Force Bases use:( Nasty job - BUT-
we were SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE A PAY CHECK the last few months!!
LaMar has been traveling for the past 5 years since he has been working
as a Remediation Tech. It has been fun to earn free hotel nights and I was
able to travel with him at times, but it has gotten OLD...and yet... we have
been SOOOO blessed to have a job! This job had no benefits and was about
to end also, and we didn't know what we were going to do - there's not a lot
of jobs out there. We have been praying so hard for direction an I have been
concerned, but I have also just had such a peaceful feeling since September
that all would be ok!!! REALLY, I was starting to worry that maybe I should
be more concerned, but just had a peace about it all. We had our 3 months
supply, I had worked hard to get out of dept, etc and we have been through
6 other job losses in the past 30 years and I realize that as long as you are
trying to do all that you can, and trying to live right, things always work out!!
WELL, LaMar was just hired with a new Environmental Company called
C2MHill Environmental. It is one of the larges Environmental Companies in
the world. With this new job he will not be traveling anymore:) He just
works about 13 miles from home (at the Phoenix Airport). This job, he has
been told will be around for at least 20 years!!! The pay is a little less, but the
benefits are excellent and he was told that they give raises quite often.
We feel SOOO THANKFUL AND BLESSED!!!!
The picture above is the site where LaMar will be working for C2MHill
at the Phoenix Airport:):):)
Kaylee spent the night and went to Church with me. We
had a wonderful time! Sunday evening we walked around
the Temple and took some pictures. I love this little gal!

What a beautiful girl, Kaylee, my oldest Grand Child!

Debbie and George came over and watched Conference
with us on Sunday. We had a nice breakfast and dinner
together. The Conference Sessions were AMAZING!

These pictures didn't turn out too good. We are part of
a fun "Empty Nesters" Family Home Evening Group. There
are about 8 couples in our Ward and we take turns having
everyone over on the 1st Monday of the Month for a Fun Family Home
Evening. It was our turn this month and so we had a Mexican
Dinner on the back porch and then when it got dark we built
a fire in the fire pit and we all shared our favorite Conference talk
from General Conference. It was a fun evening!
